Dallas, TX, Oct. 05, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — After theEVENT 2026 in Vancouver reached capacity, Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the world’s largest meeting and event industry association, is carrying that momentum into its next global signature event. Registration is now open for the European Meetings and Events Conference (EMEC), taking place February 20-23, 2027, in Galway, Ireland.
Each of MPI’s signature events is intentionally designed for the community it serves, with education and experiences that reflect regional priorities, perspectives and culture. Together, theEVENT and EMEC bring meeting and event professionals together for practical learning, meaningful relationships and inspiration they can bring back to their organizations and careers.
MPI reaches capacity for theEVENT 2026
Designed specifically for Canadians, theEVENT is MPI’s signature gathering for Canadian business event professionals, with programming shaped around the needs and perspectives of Canada’s meetings and events community. Held September 14-16 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, theEVENT is MPI’s signature gathering for Canadian business event professionals. TheEVENT 2026 brought together nearly 400 attendees from 24 MPI chapters/regions, including planners, partners, thought leaders and rising talent from across the country.
“The response to theEVENT demonstrates how much our community values opportunities to come together, learn from one another and experience new ideas firsthand,” said Lori Pugh, VP, MPI Academy. “Meeting and event professionals are looking for meaningful opportunities to connect, learn and prepare for what’s ahead. We’re excited to carry that energy forward to Galway for EMEC.”
MPI also announced that theEVENT will head to Prince Edward Island in September 2027. Led by Meet PEI in partnership with the City of Charlottetown, the 2027 gathering will give attendees the opportunity to experience one of Canada’s most distinctive destinations while building relationships, exchanging ideas and discovering new possibilities for their own events.
MPI Heads to Galway for EMEC 2027
MPI is looking ahead to another signature gathering with registration now open for EMEC 2027, taking place February 20-23 in Galway, Ireland.
Designed by Europeans for Europeans, MPI’s European Meetings and Events Conference brings regional perspectives and priorities into every aspect of the experience. Each year, EMEC gathers planners, organizers, partners, suppliers and event innovators to explore the future of the European meetings and events industry through education, creativity and community.
For 2027, Galway itself will become part of the learning experience. Under the theme “Your Place at the Table,” EMEC will draw on the city’s hospitality, community, food and culture to explore how meeting professionals can create experiences where attendees feel genuinely welcomed and connected.
“EMEC has always been about bringing our European community together to challenge conventional thinking, build meaningful relationships and experience the host destination in a way that informs how we think about our own events,” said Colleen Connor, Sr. Director of Events, MPI “Galway provides an incredible setting to continue that tradition.”
