RALEIGH, NC, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Join Public Schools First NC on Thursday, September 24th from 7 p.m. to 8:30pm for an informational webinar with Dr. Emily King, a child psychologist and public school parent of two neurodivergent sons. She will discuss her new book, The Neurodivergent Learner, an indispensable, first-of-its-kind roadmap for parents and educators of neurodivergent children. Her book is packed with science-backed strategies and real-life stories to help every child thrive in—and beyond—the classroom. Time will be reserved for questions and answers. Registration is required.
Neurodivergent children are growing up in classrooms that weren’t designed with their brains in mind and are often asked to learn in ways that leave them overwhelmed, misunderstood, or shut down. Parents know their children aren’t broken, but they may not know how to close the gap between who their child is and what school demands.
In the Neurodivergent Learner, Dr. Emily King offers a practical, neuro-affirming road map for raising confident, resilient learners. Drawing on more than twenty years of professional experience and her own parenting journey, Dr Emily blends neuroscience, educational insight, and real-life stories to address the moments that matter most: school fit, homework battles, testing stress, friendship struggles, calls from school, and the gradual shift toward self-advocacy. Throughout she emphasizes a powerful truth: children learn best when they feel understood, accepted, and supported.
Emily W. King, PhD, is a licensed child psychologist, speaker, and parent educator with a doctorate in school psychology and more than twenty years of experience working with neurodivergent children and teens. She is the founder of the Learn with Dr. Emily Substack and creator of the Neurodiverse Classroom professional development curriculum for K-12 educators. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Emily keynotes conferences; conducts workshops for parents, educators, and clinicians; and consults with schools across the country.
