Dinant Expands Support to Over 100 Underserved Honduran Communities

Leading agribusiness strengthens education and local economic opportunities

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Dinant is expanding its support for education and community development in Honduras. The company’s engagement program now benefits over 100 underserved communities across 16 municipalities, including areas near its operations in San Pedro Sula, Comayagua, Tegucigalpa, Leán, and Aguán.

Dinant continues to fund 12 teachers in Aguán and Leán, enabling nearly 1,500 children to attend school. The company donated 1,750 school kits to 13 schools in 2025 and 1,750 kits to 14 schools in 2026.

In San Pedro Sula, Dinant donated 10 computers to local schools, benefiting 1,420 students. The company also improved school facilities in Aguán, supporting 1,050 children.

More than 900 families in Comayagua benefit from Dinant’s improvements to a suspension footbridge connecting the Lamaní and Pepineros communities. In Aguán, Dinant contributed materials to upgrade the community water system in Quebrada de Arena, benefiting 950 families.

Dinant supports local health initiatives, including regular blood donation drives with the Honduran Red Cross and childhood cancer awareness sessions in Aguán and Leán.

Dinant employees regularly participate in volunteer activities such as reforestation and community cleanups. In June, company volunteers planted 70 Neem trees in Agua Salada, Comayagua. In July, volunteers collected 389.8 kg of waste from Playa La Travesía in Puerto Cortés.

A key part of Dinant’s approach is its regional Community Grievance Mechanisms, developed with local communities and tailored to specific areas. These mechanisms give community members, independent producers, employees, and other stakeholders safe and confidential ways to contact the company, raise concerns, ask questions, or request support. In 2025, Dinant received and addressed 38 communications through these mechanisms. In 2026 to date, the company has received and addressed 22 communications.

The grievance mechanisms align with Dinant’s updated Code of Ethics, which sets standards for employees and business partners and provides additional confidential communication channels.

“People need to know that raising a concern will lead to a response,” added Ms. Carvajal. “That is why we track every communication and follow up until it has been addressed.”

In Puerto Castilla, Trujillo, Dinant works with local producers, including Garifuna community members, to produce sustainable extra-virgin coconut oil for the Mazola product line. This partnership creates income opportunities for several small producers while preserving traditional production methods. Dinant has also provided entrepreneurship training to Garifuna small-business owners through Honduras’ National Institute for Vocational Training. These efforts are part of Dinant’s broader support for independent producers, including technical assistance and stable purchasing conditions for farmers throughout its supply chain.
