Polish space defense startup signs agreement with Lonestar Data Holdings
LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, August 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Polish startup ARES Shield announced the signing of an agreement worth up to $6 million with Lonestar Data Holdings (dba Lonestar Space), the American pioneer of off-Earth data centers. Under the agreement, the system developed by ARES will protect the company’s orbital servers: three satellites in the first phase, and ultimately multiple satellites within the constellation. ARES Shield also announced the opening of an office in Los Angeles to strengthen cooperation with American partners, institutions, and investors in the space defense sector.
This is the first commercial agreement for ARES Shield and the first deployment of European non-kinetic satellite defense technology with a customer outside Europe. The announcement comes just days after the company reported reaching Technology Readiness Level 4 (TRL4) and closing another funding round.
“The security of orbital infrastructure is no longer a theoretical question. Companies moving critical data into orbit need real protection for their assets today, not declarations and promises of safety. The agreement with Lonestar confirms that the HPM technology we are developing answers a need the market is already pricing in hard numbers,” said Grzegorz Zwolinski, CEO of ARES Shield.
Orbital Servers Under Polish Protection
Lonestar Data Holdings is building the world’s first orbital data storage network and infrastructure layer for AI, serving governments, financial institutions, and critical infrastructure operators. The company has already tested its data centers across four space missions, including two to the Moon and in Cislunar orbits, and in 2027 plans to launch StarVault, its first fully commercial platform. Data stored beyond Earth is designed to withstand natural disasters, armed conflicts, and failures of ground infrastructure. That resilience, however, depends on the security of the satellites themselves, and this is where the ARES Shield system comes in.

Alongside the Lonestar agreement, ARES Shield has registered a US entity and opened an office in Los Angeles. The local presence will support closer cooperation with American technology partners, institutions, and investors in the space defense sector. Both companies intend to work with markets in the US and Europe to start, offering next-level security and safeguarding data sovereignty.
ARES Shield: A Shield for Europe
ARES Shield is a modular defense platform integrating advanced AI-driven analytics, data from multi-domain sensor systems, and HPM (High Power Microwave) technology. In the orbital layer, the system acts as an active protective shield for satellites: it detects, classifies, and neutralizes threats to space infrastructure, including anti-satellite weapons and RPO-class proximity systems. A directed beam of microwave energy precisely affects the electronics of a threat without kinetic means and without generating space debris. The system is designed for NATO member states, satellite operators, and European armed forces.
